This is a Journey into Understanding Your Neurotype

Finding clarity in how your brain works can be a transformative and empowering experience. Whether you’ve felt different your entire life, or you’re simply curious about your unique brain style, understanding your neurotype is a way to feel more empowered and have a better understanding of how your brain works.

It’s about finding peace in the way you think, process, and experience the world.

Our assessments provide you with a clearer understanding of your neurodivergent traits, offering insight into your strengths, challenges, and everything in between.

Deciding to get an assessment is a personal choice.

Assessments are tools that can help diagnose neurodivergence. In addition to self-diagnosis, formalized assessments can potentially be used as a support tool.

The decision to go through an assessment process is a personal one and one that you should decide.

I usually ask clients why they are seeking an assessment or possible diagnosis in our consult call. This can determine the best fit for moving forward in the process. Some folx express that having a formal diagnosis provides them with peace of mind. And for other folx may not want that on their medical record. It is really up to you!

For many people, seeking an assessment can feel like a weight has been lifted. Many people feel like they finally have a way to understand their patterns of behavior, emotions, or struggles that haven’t made sense before.

It’s not only about a diagnosis.

For many folx, it can be about understanding themselves more and integrating the pieces of who you are and how your brain regulates itself in the world.

With this knowledge, you can begin to make sense of your experiences and begin navigating life with greater clarity, acceptance, and self compassion.

Why an Assessment Might Bring Relief

this is Your Decision & Your Journey

In assessment sessions, I use affirming diagnostic tools designed to give people more information about their neurotype and offer therapeutic support. These assessments differ from neuropsychological testing as I do not offer doctoral-level testing, such as personality or cognitive testing.

What is the process like?

The process can feel long, and I offer different access supports for folx as we go through it. I encourage frequent movement and snack breaks if needed. I also try to chunk sessions in ways that can be supportive to your nervous and sensory system, but you should know, even with those supports it can still feel long.

Where do you do the assessment?

I currently offer assessments ONLINE for clients who live in California. I cannot do diagnostic work across state lines.

What happens during the process?

I offer neurodiversity-affirming assessments for ADHD and autism that focus on understanding and celebrating your unique brain style. Using tools like the MIGDAS which is a collaborative, conversational approach. I create a supportive space to explore how you think, feel, and interact with the world. I also integrate structured tools like the DIVA-5 for ADHD, the SRS (Social Responsiveness Scale), and other screeners to ensure a comprehensive and respectful evaluation process. My goal is to help you gain clarity and self-understanding and not to pathologize, but to empower.

What happens if I don't get the diagnosis?

There is a possibility that you may come for an assessment and we may discover a different diagnosis than you were considering or perhaps there might not be a diagnosis at all. I cannot say for sure, so this is something you should consider as assessments can be pricey and time-consuming. There are no guarantees in this process.

What is the difference between formal and informal diagnosis?
Formal assessments are used for things like school or work accommodations. Informal would be used for yourself, and perhaps peace of mind, knowing more about your neurotype and brain style. Before moving forward in the process of assessment, it is important to consider what you are looking for and if what I offer is appropriate for your needs.
