This chart will give you an example of how I use a tiered system to create more access to therapy. I am only one person, so I cannot solve the whole system. However, I do my best to create more access to therapy in my practice. I can only offer limited reduced fee spots at this time. Becoming a therapist is an expensive venture. For therapists there are a lot of hidden expenses such as licensing fees, insurance, professional development, student loans, and the cost of running a business. Plus working as self-employed business owners comes with pretty big expenses and there are things that we do not have access to that you would in a job. We have to account for sick and vacation time as well as the high amount of tax that is required for business owners. If we do not work, we do not get paid, so we have to prepare for that.

If you are not sure where you might fall in the reduced fee range, please take a look at these resources to help you find your way.

I do not take insurance for a few reasons. I don't want to be policed by insurance companies in how we work together. These companies can be invasive and interrupt treatment. I got into this work to do what I feel is clinically best for clients. That doesn't always align with the insurance companies.

Do you accept insurance?
What is a reflexive fee schedule?

Reflexive fees mean that you can float in and out of the standard and reduced fee ranges. For example, if you are in the reduced fee range and you increase your salary or win the lottery, we can shift to a higher rate. And vice versa, if we are working together and you experience a job loss or things drastically change, then we can talk about reducing your rate temporarily.

Do you offer Superbills?

Yes, I am an OON provider and can give you a Superbill at the end of each month for you to submit to your insurance company. I do not interact with the insurance companies. Superbills require a diagnosis, so we talk about what feels right for you to submit to the insurance company. I believe you should be a part of the diagnosis conversation.

Do you diagnose?

The short answer is yes. I do offer diagnosis. How I do that is up to you. Superbills require them and that is typically how I interact with giving a diagnosis.

What are your specialties?

I specialize in grief and life transitions. I also hold a non-judgmental frame that allows the problem to be the problem, rather than you or a relationship or anything else people related being the problem.
I enjoy working with neurodivergent folks, anxiety, depression, and how grief is impacted by these things.

What can you help me with?

I can help you navigate the spaces between where you are and where you want to be. I love helping people through big life changes. Whether that be through more traditional periods of grief or through liminal spaces in life, I appreciate the messiness between.
